Released in 2002, Soldier of Fortune II Double Helix still persists as a classic old school favorite thanks to various content creators and media managers (credited at the bottom of the page). You have the option to make changes to the games configuration as you wish, like a machine that you have to fine tune for precise desired performance. In this new age of game portals, with Steam and Epic, this aspect is almost lost. While you’re in game it’s simple point and shoot; no pay to win or cosmetic bullshit. The ability to lean around corners and throws knives are also great features in this game. The movements and overall mechanics just feel right. It was perfect for its time. There’s actually someone who has been working for the past several years on a modern rebuild of the game using the Unreal Engine. We talk about AeonAKF and his Sof2UE development work more in our recent post about our involvement with modifying the game. We truly do wish him success in his endeavor. Below you can find documentation and game add-ons that are compatible with community hosted servers including our own.

Connecting to a server
Upon entering the game for the first time, you will have the option to customize your character’s name and appearance. Afterwards, you can follow the illustration above to connect to a server.
- (1.) Click the ‘Join Server’ icon on the bottom left
- (2.) Verify that filter settings match those provided in the illustration
- (3.) Click ‘Get a new list’ icon
- (4.) Connect to a server by double clicking on the listed entry
